Description: 1965 Johnny Unitas "NFL Most Valuable Player Award." Presentational plaque (14"x16") has a substantive cast bronze scroll style plate affixed to the front. At the top is the "NFL" logo with text below reading "Most Valuable Player Award Presented To John Unitas, Quarterback Baltimore Colts, By The National Football League Touchdown Club Of Utica, N.Y. February 24, 1965." Unitas had enjoyed one of his finest seasons in 1964 leading the Colts to a 12-2 record. He finished with (2,824) yards passing, a leading (9.26) yards per pass attempt, (19) touchdown passes, and only a half dozen interceptions. He was named MVP by both the AP and UPI and earned his second of three career total Bert Bell Awards. A visually impressive piece related to one of the best seasons had by a quarterback in the era.
