Description: 1959 Johnny Unitas Sport Magazine "Top Performer In Pro Football" award. Wooden plaque (10"x15") has an engraved metal placard mounted to the front which reads "Sport Magazine Award, Top Performer In Pro Football 1959, Johnny Unitas." A pair of figural eagles are mounted on either side. Johnny U had lead the NFL in passing yards (2,899), touchdown passes (32), and completions (193) en route to the Colts second consecutive Championship. He was named Most Valuable Player in 1959 by the Associated Press. A highly prestigious honor as bestowed by one of the most respected sports publications of the era. Touch of wear/tarnish to metal portions and there is a minor separation of the wood where two pieces were joined.
