Description: "Darktown Battery" mechanical baseball bank c.1888. Desirable 19th century baseball themed children's toy is a poignant reminder of the social status of African Americans during the Victorian era. Bank retains approx. 80% of its original paint and its original bat (rare). A few minor areas of period overpaint are evident on the players including the shoe and hat areas.
