Description: French World War I bayonet and scabbard from the Mathewson Collection. Steel bayonet with scabbard is the type and style which was used by the French during World War I. Likely a souvenir which Mathewson collected while serving overseas and brought back. Unmarked aside from the numbers "22474" which are impressed beside (2) letters that can not be deciphered.
