Description: 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter non-baseball partial set (24/50) with Jack Dempsey, Annie Oakley. Difficult-to-assemble lot offers (24) different cards from the classic N28 Allen & Ginter set, often considered one of the most beautiful and artistic sports card sets of all time. No baseball players are included (some offered separately in this auction), though the lot is highlighted by a Jack Dempsey boxing card (PR; pencil mark on back) and Annie Oakley rifle shooting card (FR; pencil mark on back). Balance of the lot features boxers, oarsman, wrestlers and other sportsmen. In addition to Dempsey and Oakley, included (in generally PR-FR condition with a few better) are Carney (pugilist), Smith (pugilist), McMahon (wrestler), Hanlan (oarsman), Ross (oarsman), Trickett (oarsman), Sorakichi (wrestler), Acton (wrestler), Beach (oarsman), Bubear (oarsman), Muldoon (wrestler), Bibby (wrestling), Hamm (oarsman), Malone (pool), Sexton (billiards), Vignaux (billiards), Schaefer (billiards), Dion (billiards), Adams (billiards), Frey (pool), Carver (rifle shooting) and McAuliffe (pugilist).
