Lot Number: 297

Description: Significant 1924 Paris Olympics Gold Medal presented to Jackie Fields with related material and his personal financial ledger. Important Gold Medal issued to Jackie Fields in 1924 when, at the age of just 16, he became the youngest boxer in history to reach that level of success. The front shows an athlete extending his hand to an opponent, with Olympics rings below, and there is a sporting equipment design on the other along with "VII Olympiade Paris 1924" text. It was encased in lucite and crafted into a display, mounted atop a small marble base, with engraved placard affixed reading "Presented To Jackie Fields, Featherweight Champion, 8th Olympic Games, Paris, France 1924." An included letter of provenance signed by Fields' daughter (Michelle) relays that she inherited the medal upon his passing. Light overall wear and it is presumed that the medal was polished before being encased accounting for the silver color (with the gold overlay having rubbed away). Proper "Argent" mark can be seen (although is hard to make out due to the angle needed to view because of the lucite). Also includes a period photo of 1924 US Olympic point winners (signed by many shown - not Fields - and there is a note to Fields written on back); real photo postcard showing Fields in his Olympic shirt with another boxer and (2) other people; what appears to be a press pass issued for the 1924 Olympics; Western Union telegram from President Calvin Coolidge which was distributed to Athletes as they made the trip home (mounted to scrapbook page backing); Fields' personal financial ledger in which he recorded earning and expenditures related to all of his fights as well as other expenses; and some additional pieces: GD-EX

Estimated Price Range: ($5,000-$10,000)
