Lot Number: 227

Description: Exceedingly rare "Shoeless" Joe Jackson autographed document (PSA/DNA 6 EX-MT) Important document is one of a select few extant which bear the signature of "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, one of baseballs' most noted early stars and historically significant figures. Known to have been only semi-literate, it is believed that he learned to sign his name by copying the handwriting of his wife, Katie, and did so with great effort and only occasions in which it was of utmost importance. The offered "Joe Jackson" signature (done in fountain pen and graded "EX-MT 6" by PSA) is one of the most well documented to have surfaced and appears on a portion of a legal document having originated directly from the Jackson family archives. It is the companion piece to the Joe Jackson signed recognizance bond which was once part of the Green Diamond Gallery Museum collection and the two pieces at one time formed one single document. Light toning and some mild wear includes a vertical fold and general wrinkling. Very fine example of one of the most sought after autographs of any type or medium. Recently authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (6 EX-MT), Document: GD-VG

Estimated Price Range: ($40,000-$60,000)
