Description: Significant 1927 Babe Ruth endorsed payroll check. New York Yankees payroll check issued to Babe Ruth for pay due in the month of May, 1927. The check is signed on the front by Yankees President Jacob Ruppert and countersigned by secretary Ed Barrow. The back of the check has been endorsed, "George H. Ruth" in black fountain pen. Ruth signature rates 7/8 out of 10 with a horizontal fold line that intersects the signature area. Check also has a small pinhole at the top edge near the center and a few very minor stains on the back. Ruth endorsed payroll checks are rarely offered for public sale with the offered exemplar being the first from the storied 1927 season that we have encountered.
