Description: 1979 Mike Flanagan Cy Young Award. Important original award as presented to Flanagan following the Baltimore Orioles 1979 American League Championship season in which he won a League leading (23) games and struck out (190) with a 3.09 ERA. Black painted wooden plaque with affixed silver plated figural pitching arm positioned above placard which reads in relief, "Presented to Mike Flanagan Most Valuable Pitcher American League 1979". Measures 16.5"x 13.25" and retains "Balfour" manufacturers tacked on metal plate on back. Incidental scattered light wear and minimal tarnish. Highly desirable piece representing one of the most recognizable high honors which can be bestowed upon an athlete across the entire spectrum of sport.
