Significant April 30, 1930 New York Yankees payroll check to Babe Ruth. Full check issued to Ruth for the amount of $7,649.92 which amounts to payment for the first (16) days of play in the 1930 season. Ruth's $70,000.00 contract for years 1927, 1928, and 1929 had expired and after lengthy contract negotiations he signed on for two years at $80,000.00 at which point he was asked if he deserved to be making more money then President Hoover whose salary was $75,000.00. Ruth replied as only he could, "Why Not? I had a better year then he did." Check itself remains in fine condition and is signed by Ruppert, Barrow, and a beautiful full name "George H. Ruth" on back.
