Presented to a 6th grader named Bruce Weil whose parents were acquainted with Ruth and had visited Ruth in the hospital at which point he signed (2) baseballs among which is the offered ball. Without question one of the finest 1927 Yankee balls that we've handled with the obvious caveat that the Ruth signature is clubhouse signed. Full check issued to Ruth for the amount of $7,649.92 which amounts to payment for the first (16) days of play in the 1930 season. Ruth's $70,000.00 contract for years 1927, 1928, and 1929 had expired and after lengthy contract negotiations he signed on for two years at $80,000.00 at which point he was asked if he deserved to be making more money then President Hoover whose salary was $75,000.00. Ruth replied as only he could, "Why Not? I had a better year then he did." Check itself remains in fine condition and is signed by Ruppert, Barrow, and a beautiful full name "George H. Ruth" on back.
