See a Picture of this Item 134 Meadowlark Lemon Harlem Globetrotters professional model unifrom c.early 1960s. Scarce full uniform, including jersey shorts and socks, dates from Meadowlark Lemon's earliest seasons with the Globetrotters. Blue dureen jersey features a “Wilson” manufacturer’s tag indicating size “42” on the left front tail. Colorful adornments include team name "Harlem Globetrotters," Lemon's number 36, and four stars stitched on the front, with Lemon's last name, number 36, and four stars stitched on the back. Matching red and white buckle-front satin shorts feature similar Wilson tagging in the waistband indicating size "34". The shirt shows consistent, even wear throughout which includes fraying and "puckering" of the letters and numbers. Today, George “Meadowlark” Lemon, who holds a Doctor of Divinity, is a born-again Christian and an ordained minister in Scottsdale, Arizona. However, from 1957-1979, Lemon’s followers were on the basketball court, watching as the “Clown Prince of Basketball” taunted the patsy Washington Generals, or heaved his trademark half court hook shot into a waiting net. Probably the most famous and best loved member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Lemon played in more than 16,000 games for the team, traveling and entertaining fans in ninety countries, including diplomats, world leaders, royalty, celebrities, two popes and an adoring public. Lemon first applied for membership in the 26-year old Harlem team in1952 and was given a tryout. After serving two years in the Army he signed a contract and played his first season with one of the Globetrotter developmental teams, the Kansas City Stars. Lemon finally made the team in 1957. In 2003 he was inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame for his lifetime contributions to the game.
