Today, George “Meadowlark” Lemon, who holds a Doctor of Divinity, is a born-again Christian and an ordained minister in Scottsdale, Arizona. However, from 1957-1979, Lemon’s followers were on the basketball court, watching as the “Clown Prince of Basketball” taunted the patsy Washington Generals, or heaved his trademark half court hook shot into a waiting net. Probably the most famous and best loved member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Lemon played in more than 16,000 games for the team, traveling and entertaining fans in ninety countries, including diplomats, world leaders, royalty, celebrities, two popes and an adoring public.
