Description: Sam and Harry Wright carte de visite by Matthew Brady c.1865. Wonderful early image of the elder Sam Wright holding a cricket paddle standing aside Harry Wright holding a ball in a studio setting. Image remains in striking condition with fresh surface and bold contrast. Mount retains its' gilt line border and fairly sharp corners. Image has just one 1/2" surface line wrinkle at Sam's knees, back has publisher's E. Anthony stamp and M.Brady photographer's stamp.2 1/2"x4", Harry Wright is no less then one of the most important figures in the formation of American baseball as one of the members of the New York Knickerbockers and aided in the formation of the National Asscociation in 1871.
