| Description: Rare baseball decorated ladies fan c.1874. One of the more interesting 19th century baseball decorative objects that we’ve handled, the framework of the fan is of cherry wood with openwork symmetrical design. Body of fan is hand colored linen with decorative game scene and individual vignette caricatures of various baseball graphics titled underneath, “Starting the 74 Ball”. Has some light age foxing and two small chips to the openwork in the frame otherwise is remarkably fine condition given its’ age and fragility: EX |
