Description: Philadelphia Columbia Ball Park postcard c.1905. Columbia Ball Park was the first home of the Philadelphia Athletics and functioned as a major league stadium for just eight seasons beginning in 1901. During that short period, however, the stadium helped give rise to a new league, was the site of one World Series, and served as the platform upon which numerous future Hall of Famers launched their careers. This rare picture postcard shows an interior view of the Stadium with a game in progress. Pencil notations appear on the bottom front margin and back is addressed in pencil with no other writing. Stamped and postmarked 1906. A true rarity in the realm of stadium postcards: VG-EX
