Description: 1926 "Louisville White Sox" photographic display piece. Collage style arrangement of seven original photographs depicts players from the Louisville White Sox team who, in 1931, joined the Negro National League for a brief one season stint. Players are identified in period fountain pen including Doleman, Mitchell, Palmer (Leon Palmer), Hayes, Wilkinson, Moore, Bell, and Leonard Mitchell himself, from whom this entire archive originated. Photos range from 1"x2" to 2"x3" retaining fine clarity with an overall mount size of 7"x12". Titled on an affixed unlined paper stock at the center of the mouth with team name, date, and names of manager and captain. Unique early documentation of the obscure Louisville area African American team. Includes letter of provenance from the Mitchell family: VG
