Images of the two combatants are featured against a bright yellow background with black and red lettering. The piece shows minimal wear with only minor soiling and two tack holes at the upper corners. The Joe Louis versus Max Schmeling fights are among boxing's most historically significant bouts. The fights were an international sensation heightened by a climate of social and political changes occurring in both the United States and Germany in the 1930s.
