Lot 487

Description: Scarce Lewis "Hack" Wilson single signed baseball. Toned NL baseball signed in period black fountain pen, "To Florence Knebelkamp, Lewis "Hack" Wilson Chicago Nats 'Cubs' Aug. 1931". Salutation ranges from 1-7 out of 10 with the autograph itself remaining fairly bold (6/7 out of 10) with only some minute chips that keep it from a solid 7+ rating. The ball itself exhibits evident game use including some surface soiling. Wilson is one of the more elusive HOF'er single signed baseballs of the era to obtain as he died, tragically, of alcoholism at the age of 48 in 1948. Incredibly rare opportunity to acquire a Wilson single signature baseball from a direct provenance source. Includes LOA from JSA and letter of provenance from the family: Ball: VG, Signature: EX
