| Description: Scarce original box as issued with the inaugural National League baseball c.1883. Original cardboard box once contained a Spalding "Official League" baseball. Beginning in 1878, Spalding began manufacturing the official baseballs for the National League which were titled the "League Ball". The box remains fully intact and complete including approx. 3/4 of its original paper seal. There is a small area of damage to the bottom of one side panel, which has been tape reinforced on the interior. One of only two examples that we have documented to exist: VG-EX |
