Description: Large format baseball team cabinet photograph c.1860s. Mounted albumen image of a well uniformed baseball team including James "Deacon" White. Although unidentified, it is very possible that the offered image pictures the Cleveland Forest City BBC team just as White was beginning his career with the team in the mid 1860s into the early 1870s. Another identical example of this early image was offered as part of the Barry Halper collection and was also attributed to the Cleveland Forest Citys club. Additionally, the player in the center holding a baseball is attributed to be "Pikey" Smith of the Cleveland club. Overall condition is very fine for an image of its size and age measuring 10"x13" on its original 14"x17" mount matted and framed. Deacon White is posed standing at the center of the top row. Includes letter of provenance from the White family: EX-MT
