| Description: Christy Mathewson "Fad-a Way" gumball display box c.1915. Colorful period lidded store display box picturing Christy Mathewson throwing his famed "Fad-a-Way" pitch. The box retains its original hinged glass display lid. The top right corner of the box lid has a chip and color retouch; the corresponding bottom corner joint has been retouched. Each lid hinge has been reinforced with linen tape (not visible). The box includes a group of period baseball gumballs in the original style as once sold in the display with printed notations such as "Safe" or "Home Run": VG-EX |
