Description: September 22, 1961 telegram from Marilyn Monroe to Joe DiMaggio. Poignant telegram with significant content in which Marilyn admits her feelings for Joe DiMaggio. It reads, "Dear Dad Darling [longtime nickname for Joe] airplane developed engine trouble plus all oil ran out of same plane so we had to turn back and land back in LA. Leaving again on another plane at 5pm arrive New York 1pm. When plane was in trouble I thought about two things, you and changing my will. Love you I think, more then ever. -Mrs. Norman." Mrs. Norman was an alias Marilyn used for several years during their 1960s re-acquaintance to avoid press and attention. To the best of our knowledge, the offered telegram provides the only documented written account that Marilyn had in fact fallen in (or had never fallen out of) love with Joe DiMaggio after their divorce. Includes its original envelope: EX-MT
