Description: 1954 Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe Tour of Japan presentational photograph album. Nearly pristine bound 11"x14" album presented to Joe DiMaggio in commemoration of the famed February 1954 Goodwill Tour of Japan made with his new bride, Marilyn Monroe. The album features purple velvet front and back covers with impressed gilt lettering that remains in mint original condition. The interior pages display (29) original photographs taken during the Tour with DiMaggio, Monroe, and Lefty O'Doul. Image size ranges from 8"x10" to 7"x16" with subjects including Marilyn and Joe in Japan, Marilyn and Joe being interviewed/photographed by reporters, Marilyn entertaining the troops, Marilyn and Joe being greeted by thousands of fans, and Joe DiMaggio coaching the Japanese baseball players. Many of the images have not previously been published and remain in spectacular near mint condition. Includes the original lidded wooden case with printed oriental characters.
