Description: Joe DiMaggio presentational floor radio c.1936. Great vintage RCA Victor standing floor radio presented to Joe DiMaggio after his inaugural season with the New York Yankees. The radio measures 15" deep, 26" wide, and 42" tall remaining in fine overall condition with some general wear to the finish including a few scratches and some veneer chipping. The radio does accept electrical current and the lighting behind the tuning dial is operational although it is likely that new electrical wiring may be required for usage. An applied brass placard is affixed to the top area inscribed, "Oct. 26, 1936 Presented to Joe DiMaggio By His Friends of North Beach". According to period newspaper accounts and personal interviews, the radio became a family fixture in their San Francisco home when Joe DiMaggio was playing in New York for the Yankees. Included is a vintage sepia tone photo of Joe DiMaggio's mother testing the offered radio before the beginning of the 1937 World Series.
