| Description: Rare Joe DiMaggio "The Lost Horizon" original cartoon artwork by Burris Jenkins c.1952. Original charcoal caricature by noted artist Burris Jenkins depicts DiMaggio 'floating' above center field as he announces his retirement from baseball. Large 14"x17" illustration features a scroll at the left side with a tribute poem lamenting DiMaggio's departure from the Yankees. Jenkins was one of the most prolific and respected sports cartoonists of the period with the offered example having the added significance of originating from the personal collection of the subject. Signed by Jenkins at the bottom right of the cartoon and underneath in blue ink, "To Joe, And his permanent place in our center field and in out hearts-Burris".
