Description: Joe DiMaggio Jr. New York Yankees mascot uniform c.1949-51. Diminutive New York Yankees mascot uniform worn by Joe DiMaggio's son during the late 1940s. Includes pinstriped Yankees jersey with original "NY" logo on the front and #5 on the back. Retains its original Rawlings tagging on the interior collar along with dry clean tag. The matching pants remain fairly clean overall with some vestiges of soiling stains just below the knees which are consistent with period photographs picturing stains in that area. The lot also includes New York Yankees hat with Spalding tag on the interior headband along with "Joe DiMaggio Jr." written in period black ink. The lot includes a period photograph in its original tooled red leather frame of Joe DiMaggio seated on top of the dugout with his son. The image has faded with age but is clearly visible; it remains to date one of the more famous photographs of DiMaggio from that time period as it was featured in several period national news publications. Along with the original photo, which was displayed in Joe's home, is a vintage news photograph of Joe DiMaggio smiling in front of the photo itself in its original frame positioned on his desk. Additionally, the uniform includes several period photographs from the DiMaggio collection picturing Joe Jr. wearing the offered uniform. Charming ensemble of vintage Yankees related items dating to a formative period in Joe DiMaggio's life: EX
