Description: Lefty O'Doul San Francisco Seals professional model baseball bat c.1934-43. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35" long and weighs 33oz. The bat exhibits evident use including numerous ball marks and stitching impressions on the barrel. "SEALS" is stamped on the end of the knob denoting its use with the San Francisco Seals of the Pacific Coast League. O'Doul was a coach with the Seals during the 1930s and developed a friendship with DiMaggio that lasted throughout their entire lives. Based on the labeling and O'Doul signature stamping, the offered bat appears to be a Lefty O'Doul professional coaches bat. It must be stated, however, that it is very possible Joe DiMaggio himself used this bat while with the Seals in 1934 and 1935. The bat exhibits very heavy usage wear including tremendous impact areas on the barrel which would have been consistent with DiMaggio's right handed hitting style. These factors coupled with the fact that O'Doul batted left handed create a very interesting scenario. The very fact that Joe had the bat within his own collection certainly warrants consideration of the aforementioned circumstances. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions, Inc: EX
