The 1912 New York Giants were headed into the World Series feeling confident not having to play their arch rivals the Phila. A's. Instead, they ran into the Boston Red Sox and more importantly Smoky Joe Wood. Wood went 3-1 in the Series and led the Red Sox to the title.
