Lot 670

Description: Significant Joe McGinnity single signature baseball. Monumental offering of one of the rarest of all Hall of Famer single signed baseballs, lightly toned Heydler NL ball signed across the sweet spot, "For Luck J.J. McGinnity 4-26-20" although the date is not definitive due to some fading to areas of the numbers. Signature has s few areas with tiny abrasions but from a standpoint of darkness rates about 6 out of 10. Ball itself has some light general age wear incl. a few areas with small abrasions. McGinnity consistently led the league in games pitched and wins for almost ever year during his career earning the nickname of "Iron Man". He was equally famous for his competitive spirit including a famous incident in which he spit in the face of future HOF umpire Tommy Connolly. To our knowledge this is the first McGinnity single signature baseball to be sold at public auction and given the fact that he died in 1929 it will likely be one of (if not the only) example to become available to the collecting public. Fantastic rarity. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J.Spence-S.Grad: VG-EX
Sold For: $25,000.00
