Description: Significant 1920 Cleveland Indians World Champions ring. Wonderful gold ring with inset diamond in diamond shaped design with "World's Champions 1920" surrounding. Originally presented to Indians pitcher Ray Caldwell who started Game #3 of the World Series picking up a loss after being knocked out in the first inning. The ring was given to a relative of the consignor who owned several business including a car dealership in the 1920-30's era. It is believed according to family history that the ring was traded for a car during that time period. The ring itself shows usage wear including to the lettering on top of ring. Name of Ray Caldwell was once inscribed inside band but was lost when later resized for another family member. This is the earliest World Series presentational rings that we've handled and is also the only example of a 1920 Cleveland ring that we could locate. Includes letter of provenance from family: EX
