| Description: Scarce baseball spider style catcher's mask with "donut" ear padding c.1880-90's. Easily the finest catcher's mask that we have handled the offered example is a full size spider style mask retaining all original padding and head strapping including donut style ear padding. Mask and leather have light overall age wear but are completely intact with no repairs or restoration. We have only seen a few images of this rare style in early equipment catalogues over the years and have never seen another example offered; nor does the Hall of Fame posess this style of mask in their permanent collection.
