Spalding & Bros. stationary featuring equipment illustrations at top. Written to Harry Wright regarding a player by the name of Gross (Most likely Emil Gross). Spalding states that he’d like Gross to play for Chicago but would recommend that he play with Philadelphia if that would keep Gross from signing with the Union Association. Spalding further notes his contempt for the Unions and asks that Wright keep in touch on the matter. Signed in black ink , “A.G. Spalding”. Signature is dark and bold but has some smudging original to it’s signing, small hand-written correction also in Spalding’s hand in the text. See a Picture of this Item 723 NY Yankees autographed “Scotty’s Ghosts” album c.1932-34. Unusual hard-bound album with blank 4”x7” pages signed by 16 members of the NY Yankees incl. Ruth, Gehrig, Lazzeri, and Ruffing. As instructed in the front of the book each player signed the page horizontally then folded the page to create a ‘ghosting’ effect. The player then was to sign at the top of the page for identification thus each player has actually signed the book twice. See a Picture of this Item 750 Scarce 1915 World Series souvenir pocketknife. Two sided celluloid body with illustrative player photos of the Boston Red Sox and Phila. Phillies. Only the managers are identified under the images with 16 total players on either team. Very light surface wear is the only mentionable defect with photos retaining orig. contrast and celluloid remaining near to its’ original clear appearance. Certain players are quickly identified , several players bear resemblance to a young Babe Ruth but we cannot guarantee his presence given the lack of player identification. There were 21 players on the roster and 16 are pictured on the knife leading one to believe that Ruth would be included especially given the fact that the knife was produced after the World Series in which Ruth played. Seldom offered style of Ruth bat made for only three years while using his earlier signature stamping.
