See a Picture of this Item 782 Fine Babe Ruth autographed photograph c.1930-40s. Stunning sepia tone 8"x10" matted and framed portrait of Ruth in a matte finish taken at a very close vantage point pictures the Babe in Yankees uniform. The photo is signed in black fountain pen at the bottom right margin, "Sincerely Babe Ruth". Signature remains in nearly pristine original condition rating a strong 9 out of 10 and displays beautifully against the light sepia background. Photo condition is similarly impressive exhibiting no mentionable wear or defects save for a minute surface wrinkle at the bottom left corner in the margin only. As a cautionary note, there is an uncommon "halo" effect surrounding the signature area, which JSA has inspected under a VSC lamp. This halo effect may suggest that there was a personalization which was professionally inpainted at some point. That said, we have handled several of this exact matte finish Ruth photos which have been autographed, and they all appear to have a similar effect to the surface with respect to the autographed area. It is likely due to the interaction of the steel tip fountain pen with the matte finish surface. While it is our opinion that the photo surface has not been inpainted (along with PSA/DNA as it includes a PSA/DNA letter as well), in the interest of accuracy we wanted to share the observations of JSA. With respect to image quality, signature quality, and overall condition grade the offered Ruth signed image is clearly among the finest we have handled. Includes LOA from JSA: NM ($5,000.00-$7,500.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 789 Babe Ruth limited edition bronze replica of Camden Yards statue "Babe's Dream". Although Boston will forever dread the "Curse of The Bambino," and Yankee Stadium will eternally be known as "the House that Ruth built," the most distinctive statue honoring Babe Ruth is in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. The statue outside Oriole Park at Camden Yards, two blocks from his birthplace, commemorates The Babe's contributions to the game. The artist commissioned to craft this prolific monument was Susan Luery. Luery's iconic statue titled "Babe's Dream" that stands at the Eutaw Street (Gate H) entrance of Camden Yards, where the majority of fans enter the ballpark, portrays a left-handed Babe Ruth holding a right-handed mitt and leaning on a bat during his days at St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys. Despite popular belief, this is not a mistake. In his autobiography, Ruth states that lefty gloves were hard to come by at that time. Upon completion of the Camden Yards statue, Luery produced a series of 100 of these 27" bronze replicas. Offered here is statue numbered "31/100" from the series. This finely crafted replica is rendered in outstanding detail and sits atop a black marble base. The edition number and artist's signature are pressed onto the back of Babe's foot. It is believed that a number of the replica statues from this series were gifted to and purchased by Baltimore Orioles officials, other Major League Baseball dignitaries, and museums (including the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore) with a limited number having reached the public: NM-MT ($5,000.00-$7,500.00) $7,250.00

See a Picture of this Item 794 1927 New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates auto. World Series baseball. Heydler NL ball presents a combination of Yankees and Pirates signatures that were almost certainly obtained at Forbes Field on October 5th or 6th of 1927 in the course of that historic World Series. There are many key names among the (29) autographs, the majority of which are Yankees including Ruth, Gehrig, Giard, Combs, Lazzeri, Huggins, Meusel, Durst, Bengough, Pascal, Collins, Moore, Grabowski and others. Among the Pirates signatures are Cuyler, L. Waner, P. Waner, Smith, Harris and Groh. Of note is the fact that Heinie Groh finished his 16-year Major League career with a 14 game stint for the Pirates in 1927, with his last at bat coming in a lone appearance in the 1927 World Series. The signatures range from 2-5 out of 10 with Ruth and Gehrig among the most legible. The ball itself shows moderate soiling and a couple of impact markings indicative of game use. The ball's type, usage characteristics, and combination of signatures contribute to the likelihood that it was actually used in a Series game. Many teams have dominated their respective leagues over the course of baseball history, but few have been able to totally demoralize their competition as the Yankees did in 1927. Their lineup, appropriately dubbed "Murderer's Row," featured five .300 hitters. Among their ranks were the league leaders in virtually every offensive category. As a team, the Bronx Bombers totaled over 100 more home runs than any other team and posted league highs with a .307 batting average and an amazing .489 slugging percentage. Their sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1927 World Series represented the culmination of the most prolific season played by any team in baseball history.
