Wilson brand football specially stamped "1960 All-America Team" is signed by all 11 members of that illustrious group of collegiate players. All players but one (Ken Rice) have added the name of their school below their autograph. Includes Mike Ditka (Pittsburgh), Danny LaRose (Missouri), Bob Lilly (TCU), Ken Rice, Tom Brown (Minnesota), Joe Romig (Colorado), E.L. Holub (Texas Tech), Joe Bellino, (Navy), Bob Ferguson (Ohio St.), Jake Gibbs (Mississippi) and Ernie Davis (Syracuse). The signature of Ernie Davis is incredibly scarce and highly desirable. Davis became the first African-American athlete to win the Heisman Trophy in 1961. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins and then almost immediately traded to the Cleveland Browns in December 1961. Tragically, he would never play a professional game after developing leukemia in 1962. He is the subject of the 2008 Universal Pictures movie biography, The Express, based on the non-fiction book "Ernie Davis: The Elmira Express," by Robert C. Gallagher. The signatures on the ball average 6 out of 10 with Davis rating 5-6/10. The ball itself has some scattered scuff marks and one small area of surface wear slightly affecting the signature of Tom Brown. A truly rare and significant piece of college football history. Includes LOA from JSA: VG-EX ($1,500.00-$2,000.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 181 Fine Gale Sayers Chicago Bears professional model road jersey. Ditka, Butkus, Payton, Singletary, McMahon and many others, graced the stadium fields of the Chicago Bears over the history of the storied franchise. Though all these names are legendary, the name which truly defined the team in its early years was Gale Sayers. Known as the "Kansas Comet," Sayers broke into the NFL in 1965 with blazing speed, scoring 22 touchdowns and compiling 1,374 rushing yards. His career was unfortunately shortened by several injuries to his knees, but that in no way tarnishes his legendary status as one of the greatest to have played the game. Offered is one of the crown jewels of the Don Biernat Collection, a Chicago Bears jersey worn by Hall of Famer Gale Sayers during the mid to late 1960s. The jersey exhibits heavy game use inclusive of surface wear, soiling, several small period team repairs, and wash wear. King O'Shea manufacturing tag (c.1960s) with size 46 notation is affixed to the tail front.
