See a Picture of this Item 401 Exceptional 1963 Stan Musial St. Louis Cardinals home uniform with related materials. Although Stan Musial did not play in New York during the era of that city's dominance in the 1950s-60s, he was, without question, one of the finest all around players in the Major Leagues. Musial played for 22 years with the St. Louis Cardinals, collecting over 3,600 hits in just over 3,000 games. He played in four World Series and was regarded as one of the best pure hitters in baseball history with many of his batting records standing today. The offered uniform was originally acquired by Horace McMahon on the final day of the 1963 season. Horace McMahon was a professional boxer who appeared in 23 fights and later continued a long stage and screen career spanning from 1933-1969. Through his extensive travels, McMahon became acquainted with numerous celebrities and notable individuals such as John F. Kennedy, John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Charlie Conerly, and Stan Musial. In fact, Stan Musial was the Godfather of McMahon's son, Tom, to whom the jersey was given in 1963. The jersey itself retains its original "Cardinals" embroidered team name across the front with "6" below. Back of the shirt has "MUSIAL" applied felt lettering with original "6" below. Rawlings mfg. tag is affixed to the tail front along with "Musial 63" chain stitched in red. Interior tail front has dry clean tagging and "Set 1 1963" flag tag. Matching pants also retain their original Rawlings mfg. tagging along with dry clean tag and "Set 1 1963" flag tag. "Musial 63 35 24ins." is chain stitched onto a strip tag inside the waistband. Both jersey and pants remains in impeccable original condition exhibiting light to moderate use with no mentionable defects. The uniform is accompanied by a vintage 8"x10" black and white photo picturing Musial posed with Horace McMahon and his son Tom which has been signed, "To Tom Best Wishes, Hope you become a ball player Stan Musial" in black fountain pen. The lot also includes an off white Giles NL ball signed on a side panel, "To Tom. Best Wishes from your pal Stan Musial" which was signed in the period. In a fitting tribute to Musial, the St. Louis Cardinals retired his uniform #6 during his final season of play on Sept. 29, 1963. Truly a Hall of Fame caliber uniform with impeccable primary source provenance, high condition grade, dating to Musial's final Major League season, and presented on the date of his final game played. Includes LOA from Hunt Auctions (jersey), LOA from JSA (autographs), and letter of provenance from Tom McMahon: EX-MT ($20,000.00-$30,000.00) $24,000.00

See a Picture of this Item 407 Ted Williams professional model baseball bat with home run attribution c.1951. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 35" long and weighs 34.5oz. The bat exhibits very fine use including ball marks, stitching impressions, cleat marks, and even handle wear. Model #W166 is stamped on the knob end with the earlier signature style Ted Williams facsimile autograph stamped on the barrel end. Coupled with the signature stamping style and the uncommon positioning of the "125" within the oval label, the bat dates to the 1950-51 era. The bat was originally obtained by Richard Schofield, who worked at the Charleston Armory in a section of Boston during the period. Mr. Schofield received the bat from Williams at a function and was told, by Williams himself, that he had recently used the bat to hit a home run during a game played in Boston against the White Sox. Williams hit three different home runs against the White Sox during the 1951 season: on May 15th (300th career home run), July 24th, and September 17th. Very attractive Williams game used bat with desirable signature stamping and uncommon labeling with direct provenance as having been used to hit a home run. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA Graded GU 8(Taube/Malta), original notarized letter of provenance from Richard Schofield, Jr., LOA from Hunt Auctions, and a letter from the Baseball Hall of Fame confirming the dates of Williams' 1951 home runs against the White Sox: EX-EX/MT ($15,000.00-$20,000.00) DNS

The bat shows heavy use incl. pine tar residue, ball marks, rack marks, stitching impressions, and a handle crack. Model #S180 is stamped on the knob end along with "25" written in vintage black marker. The barrel of the bat is signed in period black marker, "To Wayne, Best Wishes Tony Conigliaro" rating 9 out of 10. Tony Conigliaro was one of the more beloved Red Sox players during the 1960s era. In 1967, he suffered a severe injury to his retina which sidelined him until the 1969 season. During the 1969 season, he won the comeback player of the year award hitting 20 home runs. Tragically, he died in 1990 after suffering a stroke several years earlier at the young age of 45. The bat matches the Louisville Slugger factory records as dating to the 1969 comeback season specifically. Coupled with the 1969 dating, the fact that the bat is signed by Conigliaro makes it one of the finest of its type. See a Picture of this Item 416 Bobby Thomson's 1976 Babe Ruth Crown for "Outstanding Batting Achievement". The Babe Ruth Sultan of Swat Award was conceived in 1956 to honor the ball player with the greatest slugging average, an average that combined both home runs and runs batted in. The ultimate recognition for power hitting, the crown was described by Joe DiMaggio as "the greatest award in baseball." The Sultan of Swat Award, in the form of an elaborate crown of gold metal and red velvet, was presented seasonally for a period of ten years with recipients including: Mickey Mantle '56, Ted Williams '57, Ernie Banks '58, Eddie Mathews '59, Roger Maris '60 & '61, Willie Mays '62, Hank Aaron '63, Harmon Killebrew '64, Willie Mays '65, and Frank Robinson '66.
