Near the bottom right area of the back of the shirt, there is an "L" shaped tear approximately 3"x4" which has been reinforced from the interior for stability. Green markings appear to the left of the centerbrand area, which may have been from a towel rubbing or some age condensation. In 1961, Major League Baseball held two All-Star games played in Boston and San Francisco. The game in Boston ended in a tie score for the first time in All-Star Game history. The bat Mays used in that game originated from the bat boy at Fenway Park and was sold by Hunt Auctions in 2005. The game in San Francisco boasted one of the more interesting and exciting endings in All-Star history. During the ninth inning, with the game seemingly in hand for the National League, NL pitcher Stu Miller was called in to close the game. While preparing to throw a pitch to Rocky Colavito with two men on base, Miller was hit with an especially strong gust of wind in classic Candlestick Park form. The wind altered Miller's delivery and a balk was called. Interestingly, Willie Mays would end up scoring the winning run in the 10th inning for the National League.
