Ebonized wooden cane has an ornate gold handle with repousse decor, which is inscribed on the side panel, "Presented by St. P. F.D. 1895" which is an abbreviation for St. Paul Fire Department. Intaglio engraved "CC" initials for Comiskey are found on the end panel of the cane handle. Comiskey relocated to St. Paul, MN after purchasing the St. Paul Saints baseball team. The cane itself remains in fine overall condition with minimal wear to the gold handle. The very bottom of the cane is missing its protective metal sheath. 34" tall. Canes were among the most highly regarded presentational items of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with the offered example relating to one of the most prominent names in baseball history. The top retains its original celluloid ball shaped finial which is affixed to its original pencil bottom. Overall condition is remarkable given its original fragility with no cracking.
