See a Picture of this Item 419a Rare Bernie Parent Toronto Maple Leafs hockey goalie's mask c.1971. During the first round of the 1971 NHL playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs were embroiled in a very tough series with the New York Rangers. In the second game of the series, there were several fights, one of which involving multiple players including the Leafs' Bernie Parent and the Rangers' Vic Hadfield. Hadfield took Parent's mask and tossed it into the crowd at Madison Square Garden. The offered mask is believed to be the exact mask that was thrown to a lucky New York fan during the 1971 playoff series. High quality fiberglass mask shows evident use incl. surface abrasions and general wear. Interior retains its original Cooper elastic/leather head strapping with interior face padding adhered to the mask itself. After the 1971 season, Parent would jump to the WHA until his return to the NHL with the Phila. Flyers several years later. Goalie masks are among the most prized of all offerings within the vintage hockey equipment category. The offered mask is one of only two that we have encountered in the open marketplace. High quality two toned "Black Betsy" baseball bat modeled after Shoeless Joe Jackson's favorite bat measures 35" long with fine original black painted surface and a "Black Betsy" decal on the barrel end. Decal remains approx. 85% intact with no restoration. Thick stock handle has some light handle tape residue and remains uncracked. "Spalding Black Betsy Model" is stamped at the centerbrand area. Two small initials are carved into the handle and barrel end. One of only two examples that we have handled. Jackson's facial area and the word "Slugger" have some surface wear. The top corner has a chip and the piece itself appears to have been a bit larger based on some cropping to the image. See a Picture of this Item 458 Scarce original box as issued with the inaugural National League baseball c.1883. Original cardboard box once contained a Spalding "Official League" baseball. Beginning in 1878, Spalding began manufacturing the official baseballs for the National League which were titled the "League Ball". The box remains fully intact and complete including approx. 3/4 of its original paper seal. There is a small area of damage to the bottom of one side panel, which has been tape reinforced on the interior. See a Picture of this Item 475 Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium locker. One of the more unique stadium relics that we have had the privilege of offering. This cast iron and mesh locker originated from the collection of veteran collector Paul Hill. When describing this piece, we feel compelled to pose the following query, to which there is no definitive answer: How many Hall of Fame players hung their jerseys in this locker? The fact that it spanned several generations offers the following possibilities: Ruth, Foxx, Gehrig, Klein, Mathewson, Cobb, and even Joe Jackson. The locker itself is in original condition retaining a period coat of paint, which has alligatored from age. The top shelf remains along with the hooks that held literally hundreds of jerseys over the years. The display possibilities for this piece are endless. 24" deep x 32" wide x 78" tall, accompanied by photographs and other supporting documents of the locker in Shibe Park.
