See a Picture of this Item 324 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle #82. While the offered card remains a beautiful visual example, the story of its plight is nothing short of tragic. The card was neatly preserved within an album for many years which kept the card in pristine original condition. Now for the bad news. During its removal, a small section (approx. 1/2" by 1/16") at the bottom left border became damaged. The area was re-attached beautifully and is in fact present. As such, the card presents as a NM-MT 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle but is technically graded authentic. Some light color has been added to the affected area. Very strong visual example which, with the exception of the aforementioned area, remains nearly pristine. Graded SGC Authentic. ($1,000.00-$2,000.00) DNS

One of the most desirable rarities of all regional card issues, the offered Mantle card was originally found in packages of Stahl Meyer hot dogs in the New York area. Card retains a fine general appearance with bright color and crisp registration. Some light soiling is present at the bottom margin and a light shadowing of "710" stamping is visible at the bottom right corner area. Left side has some light vertical creasing and the bottom left corner has a line crease. Back remains intact with some typical light toning from packaging with the hot dogs. The opening ceremonies for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics were some of the most dramatic in modern times with Muhammad Ali lighting the cauldron to begin the games. Offered is one of the actual relay torches used in delivering the flame to its eventual destination in Atlanta. The metal and wooden torch is inscribed with the Atlanta logo along with various dates/locations of previous Olympic games. Ali has signed the wooden center section in black sharpie. The torch shows evident use incl. some browning to the metal around the flame area: EX. The lot also includes a color 11"x13" photo of Ali lighting the cauldron with a similar torch. Classic Colts helmet from the man who is generally regarded as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Offered is an original Colts helmet as worn by Unitas during the mid 1960s era. The helmet retains its original faceguard and famed "U" shaped horseshoe logos on either side panel. The back of the helmet retains the original "19" indicating Unitas' uniform number. Interior also remains intact with its suspension padding having only one small partially detached piece. The helmet exhibits excellent use incl. some abrasions, age toning, and areas of appropriate wear for its positional use. Provenance of the helmet is impeccable having been given originally to Colts band director John Ziemann as a gift from Unitas in the late 1960s. Unitas' statistics are the thing of legend, including over 40,000 passing yards and a record 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. While his numbers are impressive, it was his gritty intelligence on the field that embodied his style of play. Exceptional piece is without question one of the finest Unitas game helmets to have entered the marketplace. As in the previous 1958 season, which culminated with an NFL Championship game that has since been deemed "The Greatest Game Ever Played", the Baltimore Colts and New York Giants ended the 1959 NFL regular season atop their respective divisions. The 1959 championship game was played at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium in December of 1959, with the Colts again defeating the Giants by a score of 31-16. Quarterback Johnny Unitas dominated the 1959 regular season in the midst of his famed streak of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass. Unitas, as always, lived up to his reputation as a big game player in the title game, throwing two touchdowns and running another. The 1959 season may well have been the finest of Unitas' storied career, having garnered numerous honors including the 1959 UPI MVP, 1959 Bert Bell Award, and 1959 Pro Bowl MVP, with a note to the fact that Unitas appeared in a record (10) NFL Pro Bowls. Subsequent to capturing the 1959 NFL title, the Baltimore Colts gave the players a choice of receiving a ring, wristwatch, or silver tea service in honor of the victory. Offered is the original presentational sterling silver tea service as given to Johnny Unitas for being a member of the World Champion Colts in 1959. Manufactured by New York silversmith, Gorham Co., the four piece sterling silver service is of exceptional quality with a total weight of 54.10oz. The famed Colts logo and "1959 World Champions" are inscribed on the front of all three figural pieces, which consist of a 10" tall teapot, 5" tall handled creamer, and a 5" tall lidded sugar bowl. The set also features a 10" diameter molded edge undertray, which also contains an engraving of the Colts logo along with the inscription, "1959 World Champions Johnny Unitas". The set remains in fine original condition, although the tray has a very minor indentation and some typical light surface scratching. World Championship personal player award pieces with relation to Hall of Fame members of Johnny Unitas' stature are exceedingly scarce, with only a scant few having entered the collecting marketplace. Unitas had been acquainted with Bradshaw's husband through numerous fishing trips in Crisfield, MD. The painting itself measures 27"x47" in its original frame retaining the original paper identification label on the back of the board. Signed by the artist at the lower right corner and by Johnny Unitas in black sharpie with a date of "6-23-92". See a Picture of this Item 392 Significant Johnny Unitas 1956 Baltimore Colts rookie contract. After being cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Johnny Unitas played semi-pro football in the Pittsburgh area for a reported $6.00 per game. The Baltimore Colts elected to take a flyer on the young quarterback and signed him as a backup to starter George Shaw. Four games into the 1956 season, Shaw was injured and the rest is history. The offered contract is the original copy kept by Colts General Manager Don Kellett. The original document was signed by all parties, including both Unitas and Kellett, and then subsequently sent to the league for approval. This period mimeograph copy was then returned, indicating that the contract had been accepted by the league. Oversized contract measures 9"x20" with a horizontal vintage tape line attaching the two sections together at the mid section. The reverse has another page stapled to the front which contains a clause regarding military service. The contract has remained in the possession of the Kellett family until its current offering and includes a color 8"x10" photograph of Kellett standing with a young Johnny Unitas.
