Trademark and signature stampings remain very bold including its "Powerized and Oil Tempered" stamping which dates specifically to 1933. Discovered in a Cincinnati area estate, the bat was given to the original owner by Bottomley himself during a game at Crosley Field. The specific date stamping corresponds to the three year time period (1933-1935) in which Bottomley played for the Cin. Reds. Bottomley was one of the finest batsman of the 1920s-30s, compiling a lifetime .310 batting average with over 2,300 hits. First example that we have handled: EX ($5,000.00-$7,500.00) $4,500.00

See a Picture of this Item 1011 Lou Gehrig professional quality baseball bat c. 1925-31. Louisville Slugger 125 model bat measures 36" long and weighs 37.8oz. The bat exhibits tremendous use incl. barrel wear, repaired handle crack, cleat marks, ball marks, and an area of deadwood to the back of the barrel. The bat also exhibits evidence of having been conditioned by using a bone to harden the surface, which Gehrig was noted to have done in the period. The barrel end has a small indentation where the lathe joint was connected and the knob end is stamped 36". According to family history, the bat was originally obtained by Mr. John Kotes, who lived in the Tarrytown, NY area. Mr. Kotes was an avid Yankees fan and regularly attended games at Yankee Stadium. During one game played at Yankee Stadium, Mr. Kotes received the bat directly from the dugout after Gehrig had broken the bat during the game. The presence of the 36" stamping on the knob end is typically an indication of a store model bat, albeit one of professional quality when marked as a 125 model. It has also been documented that these 125 model bats with length stampings on the knob end were in fact used in games by Major League players. Based on the bat specifications, usage characteristics, and direct provenance, we feel it is likely that Lou Gehrig did in fact use the offered bat. Includes a detailed letter of provenance from the Kotes family: VG-EX ($1,500.00-$2,000.00) $1,400.00

Inscribed on the back, "From Lou Gehrig To Friend Le Morn Pipgras". The watch was given to Ms. Pipgras, daughter of Yankees teammate George Pipgras, during the late 1920s. During a game in Chicago, a local jeweler had a sign in the outfield as part of a contest; any player who hit a home run at the sign, or over the sign, would receive a watch from the jeweler. Gehrig hit two home runs and received two watches. The other watch was given to Earle Combs' son. Gehrig was quite fond of the young Pipgras and sent her a box of chocolates every year on her birthday. Includes a charming vintage 3"x5" photograph picturing Ms. Pipgras wearing the offered watch as well as a letter of provenance from Ms. Pipgras: EX ($2,000.00-$3,000.00) $3,100.00
