See a Picture of this Item 1220 Collection of (49) Roberto Clemente hand addressed photo postcards c.1956. Significant find of Roberto Clemente printed photographic postcards issued by J.D. McCarthy Co. that all have period blue ink notations on back written by Clemente. All but a few have only the recipient's address written on back except for one that states "Thanks for your letter", another that reads "Please writ address of him next time", and finally one reads, "I am sorry I didn't receive your last letter. Here is the picture you ask for. Thank Roberto". The front of the last mentioned card also has "To Carolyn Best Wishes" written above the pre printed Clemente signature. Rare 11"x14" black and white image of Clemente hitting his 3,000th hit off of the Mets John Matlack on September 30, 1972. The hit was also, tragically, the last regular season hit of his career. Photo has been signed to the left of Clemente, "To Doc and my 3,000 hits Best Wishes Roberto Clemente". Blue ink salutation and signature rates 9 out of 10, photo has some light age toning at bottom edge. One of the finest Clemente autographed photos extant with regard to size, condition, subject, and provenance. See a Picture of this Item 1222 October 3, 1972 Pittsburgh Pirates line up card from Roberto Clemente's 2,4333rd game as a Pittsburgh Pirate. Actual manager's copy of the lineup card from the Oct. 3, 1972 game played between the Pirates and Cardinals in Pittsburgh hand written notations and signature of Pirates manager Bill Virdon. Has a horizontal fold line and "Clemente 3000" notated on back. The game was the second to the last regular season game for the Pirates and Roberto Clemente who passed Honus Wagner to set the all time mark for most games played by a Pirate at 2,433 games. Clemente was placed into the game as a substitute and never came up to bat. Includes a handwritten letter dated Oct. 14, 1972 from Pirates' Phil Dorsey stating that Roberto had wanted this sent to Dr. Finegold. Rare and historic actual game lineup card with relation to the celebrated and tragic pinnacle of Clemente's career. Includes letter of provenance from the family: EX ($2,000.00-$3,000.00) $3,000.00
