See a Picture of this Item 408 1946 St. Louis Cardinals World Champions team auto. baseball. The 1946 St. Louis Cardinals were forced to win a playoff against the Brooklyn Dodgers before earning their spot in the World Series against the Red Sox who were led by MVP Ted Williams. It then took them the full seven games to win the World Championship, which was clinched by Enos Slaughter's "mad dash" from first base on a Harry Walker hit to score the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning of Game Seven (which, it turned out, he accomplished with a broken elbow). This mildly soiled Frick Official National League ball sports 28 very bold black fountain pen signatures of the 1946 World Champions including Musial (MVP), Slaughter, Schoendienst, Marion, Walker, Garagiola, Kurowski, and Pollet. Sigs range from 7-9 out of 10, includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: EX-MT ($3,000.00-$4,000.00) $2,000.00

See a Picture of this Item 409 1941 American League All-Star team auto. baseball. This is no less than an artifact of a classic season in baseball history and one of the most exciting All-Star Games of all time. Two of the signatories on this ball achieved as yet unequaled feats in that very season: Joe DiMaggio hit in an amazing 56 consecutive games and Ted Williams became the last man to hit over .400 (he actually hit .406). In the game itself, in the bottom of the ninth inning with the American League down by a run, two men on base, and two out, Williams came to the plate and smacked a walk-off homer to win the game 7-5. A total of 31 members of the American League squad signed this white Harridge Official American League ball at the game in early July 1941 in green fountain pen ink including Williams, DiMaggio, Cronin, Doerr, Foxx, Dickey, Appling, Feller, Boudreau, and Ruffing. Sigs range from 7-9 out of 10, one of the rarest of all All-Star team balls. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: EX-MT ($5,000.00-$7,000.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 410 1940 Cincinnati Reds World Champions team auto. baseball. The Reds took a full seven games to defeat the formidable Detroit Tigers, led by Hank Greenberg, in the 1940 World Series. Team balls from that championship team are extraordinarily rare. This is a beautiful complete example that was signed at a reunion, probably in 1960 (the 20th anniversary) or 1961 (when all of the members of the 1940 team were invited to the World Series to watch the Reds battle the Yankees). Certainly it had to have been signed in 1965 or earlier as Hall of Fame Manager Bill McKechnie died that year. A Warren Giles Official National League ball with 24 perfect blue ballpoint signatures, including Lombardi, McKechnie, F. McCormick (MVP), M. McCormick, Vander Meer, Walters, Derringer, and Gowdy. Sigs range from 8-10 out of 10, includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: NM ($3,000.00-$4,000.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 425 1925 Philadelphia Athletics team auto. baseball with 17-Year-Old Rookie Jimmie Foxx. The 1925 season was certainly better than average for the A's with a second place finish behind the powerhouse Senators. No one could appreciate at the time, however, that the seeds had been planted that year for a second A's dynasty. 1925 was the rookie season for no less than three future Hall of Famers who would shortly lead the A's to three consecutive American League pennants and two consecutive World Championships: Jimmie Foxx, Robert (ôLeftyö) Grove, and Mickey Cochrane. All three are among the 26 black fountain pen signatures on this Ban Johnson Official American League ball with blue and red stitching, including, amazingly, 17-year-old Jimmie Foxx. This is very likely the earliest Foxx signature in existence on a baseball and it is the extremely rare early form of his signature with his last named spelled ôFoxö. The rarity of a 1925 A's ball with Foxx cannot be overstated, because he had only nine at-bats that season (producing six hits). Other notables include Al Simmons, Connie Mack, Bing Miller, Eddie Rommel, Slim Harris, Sam Gray, and Bill Lamar. Sigs range from 4-7 out of 11. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: EX ($4,000.00-$6,000.00) $3,100.00

Includes Walter Johnson, Goose Goslin, Bucky Harris, Pie Traynor, Hazen ôKiö Cuyler, Max Carey, Fred Clarke, Bill McKechnie, and many others. Dated contemporaneously "October 1925". Sigs range from 6-9 out of 10. The Pirates became the first team in history to come back from a 3-1 deficit and win a World Series, despite Walter Johnson's 26 innings pitched with a 2.08 ERA. This is an amazing artifact of a classic World Series match-up. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: EX-EX/MT ($12,500.00-$15,000.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 427 1920 Cleveland Indians World Champions team auto. baseball. In the 1920 World Series, the Indians defeated the Dodgers in seven games to win Cleveland's first World Championship. Team balls from that era are virtually impossible to find. This team had six starting players who hit over .300, and five are on this ball! The only exception is Ray Chapman, who was tragically hit by a pitch and killed in mid-season on August 16, 1920. As an added bonus, it comes from the Earl Averill Estate and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity and provenance signed by Averill's son Earl. Mint dark blue fountain signatures (10 out of 10) on a near white mint Harridge Official American League baseball. Includes LOA from PSA/DNA J. Spence-S.Grad: NM ($4,500.00-$6,500.00) DNS

See a Picture of this Item 500 Rare and Important1939 Lou Gehrig New York Yankees game worn road jersey. Beautiful road grey flannel shirt with New York in blue lettering across the front (restored) and #4 on back (period number which had been moved from original placement and has since been moved back to original area). Retains orig. Spalding tag in collar along with "L.Gehrig" chain stitched onto the shirt. Baseball Centennial patch (vintage but not original to shirt) is present on left sleeve and both sleeves have been shortened in the period possibly by Gehrig. "39" chain stitched on inside of tail at back of shirt denoting Gehrig's last year as a player in 1939. Jersey exhibits wonderful wear and patina throughout including perspiration staining in collar and general usage wear. Few sports figures have had the impact on American history and social life that Lou Gehrig has had ranging from his legendary endurance in baseball to his tragic and fatal battle with the horrid disease named in honor of him. The jersey originated from the personal collection of a New York Yankees Minor League scout who was related to Gabby Hartnett. Given that Gehrig only played in eight games during the 1939 season and that his last game was on the road at Detroit it is very plausible that this was the last road jersey ever worn by Gehrig as a Major League player and quite possibly the one worn by him while taking himself out of the lineup in Detroit on his final game as a player. Stunning and important baseball artifact of extraordinary rarity. Includes LOA from David Bushing/Dan Knoll, letter of provenance from family with supporting items relating to Hartnett: EX (With note to restoration) ($50,000.00-$75,000.00) $110,000.00
