Description: 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle autographed rookie card (New to Market Example)(PSA 2 GD; Auto 5). More than 50 years after Mantle's final at-bat, his high number Topps rookie card endures as the most desirable baseball card of the post-war period. Within that population is a far scarcer subset considered by some to be the Holy Grail of the 1952 Topps rookies: cards that have been authentically signed by the Mick himself. The offered example, one of only (19) signed and encapsulated copies registered in the PSA/DNA database, bears Mantle's signature in ink across the center of the card. While the signature has faded a bit over time, it remains c. early legible and has been assigned a respectable autograph grade of 5. The card itself retains strong eye appeal with a bold, crisp image, light corner wear, centering that favors the right and a crease-free surface. The card's reverse exhibits some areas of staining and several small areas of paper loss that likely account for the card's technical grade.
