Description: UPDATED DESCRIPTION: Fine 1969 Pele autographed Santos Football Club professional model jersey. White cloth jersey has the "S.F.C." (Santos Football Club) flocked logo on the left front chest and number "10" on back. In the collar is an "Athleta" tag. Strong use is evident throughout along with some minor natural age related wear. Signed on the front in black marker rating 7/8 out of 10. Widely considered among the greatest soccer players of all time, Pele is fondly remembered as one of the most popular sports figures of the 20th Century. His career with Santos began at age (15) and would stretch from 1956 through 1974 during which time he had (605) appearances for the team and scored (589) goals. His achievements are legendary and at the very top of the list are his (3) World Cup wins as a member of the Brazil team, a feat that no one else in history has accomplished. The jersey was originally obtained directly from Pele in the mid 1970s and includes a copy of a letter of provenance from former New York Cosmos executive Rafael de la Sierra confirming his belief that it was signed by Pele and intended for giveaway during that time. Includes LOA from MEARS with final grade of “Authentic” (Jersey) and full LOA from PSA/DNA (7 NM) (Autograph). *NOTE: The original catalogue description noted an LOA from JSA for the autograph which was incorrect as they declined to authenticate the signature. The autograph has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and assigned a grade of (7 NM).
