Description: 1987 Walter Payton "Gola/Independent Award." Interesting presentational piece is done to resemble a newspaper, fashioned in metal, which is opened to an interior page and laid on a table. The "pages" have impressed articles/advertisements as the background however the central portions are blanked out to receive text which reads, "The Gola/Independent Award For Fun, Style, And Excellence In Sport...November 1987, Walter Payton, Chicago Bears." The Award was presumably issued by The Independent, a British newspaper, and offers strong display value with its' unique design. The wooden base measures 10"x13.25" with an additional "Gola Independent Award" inscribed placard on the side. Light tarnish/wear.
