Description: 1971 Walter Payton Azalea Classic "Most Outstanding Player" trophy. Presentational trophy has a pair of figural football players mounted on both the upper and lower platforms. An engraved metal placard reads "The Azalea Classic, Most Outstanding Player, 1971" and an additional below says "Presented by Coca-Cola USA." Payton was in his freshman season at Jackson State and helped lead the team to a decisive victory in the Bowl game. Trophy stands approx. 16" tall with some light storage and age related wear including what appears to be a very minor bend to the upper figural piece.
