Description: Lot of (2) early c.1950s Bill Russell basketball related pieces including trophy and resolution (see description) Includes figural trophy with a basketball player at the top which stands 28" tall. Front of the wooden base has an area where a missing metal placard would slide in. Given the quality of construction and comparison to other pieces which have already been sold from the Russell Collection we are certain that this was a significant and early piece (likely dating to his college days but possibly the dawn of his professional career) however the exact origins are unknown. Touch of light wear; original "Oakland City Council Resolution....commending and congratulating the University of San Francisco Basketball Team and William Russell...for outstanding achievement in the sport of basketball..." Heavy wear throughout with toning/discoloration, creases/wrinkles, and areas of chipping/loss.
