Description: Significant Babe Ruth autographed "The Babe Ruth Story" book inscribed to William Bendix along with related photographic scrapbook (PSA/DNA 8 NM-MT). First edition of the 1948 hard cover classic volume signed to William Bendix who played Ruth in the major motion picture of the same name. Interior title page is boldly signed in blue fountain pen, "To My Pal Bill I know you did a great job From Babe Ruth 1948". Salutation and autograph present in as signed condition rating 9/10 out of 10. The book retains its original dust jacket which has some tears and has been reinforced with interior support. Interior of book remains very clean with some general light. Moderate handling wear to the front and back covers. Additionally offered within the lot is an oversized 13"x16" scrapbook as presented to Bendix relating to his portrayal of Ruth in the motion picture. The scrapbook contains (30) original black and white photos depicting Bendix as Babe Ruth in various scenes and off camera shots. Photos are generally 8"x10" with some matted for display. Book also includes one sepia tone image of Bendix in uniform seated with Babe Ruth and another man. Photo quality is very fine with the scrapbook itself having general handling wear. Both the signed book and scrapbook originated from the granddaughter of Bendix at an estate sale in 2000. The portrayal of Ruth by William Bendix is one of the more memorable of the era and was lauded by the Bambino himself as evidenced within this signed volume.
