Description: 1953 Bill Russell San Francisco Examiner "Most Promising Player" award. Large 25" figural trophy as awarded to Russell very early in his career at the University of San Francisco as being named "Most Promising Player" by the San Francisco Examiner. Russell had turned the collegiate basketball world upside down by revolutionizing the way the game was played. Large trophy features a figural player finial atop a two handled loving cup mounted on white bakelite plinth base. Inscribed on central body ring, "S.F. Examiner P.A.A.A.U. Basketball 1953 Most Promising Player". The player finial has a repair to the area where the feet attach to the pedestal with remainder of trophy in superb original condition. "Granat Bros. Trophies" metal labeling found inside the base. Includes certificate of provenance from Bill Russell: EXEstimated Price Range: ($1,500-$3,000)
