Description: Important 1986 Red Auerbach Boston Celtics NBA Championship ring (Auerbach's 16th and Final NBA Title). Red Auerbach embodied the very meaning of "champion". Auerbach crafted a culture of success within the Boston Celtics organization spanning four decades that remains unmatched by any professional sports organization. During Red's tenure with the team the Celtics won a startling 16 NBA championships including the 1986 title against the Houston Rockets. The 1986 championship was the 16th and final title for Red Auerbach with that particular team considered among the best in the history of the game. Presented is Red Auerbach's 1986 Boston Celtics NBA Championship ring as gifted to his nephew. Ring displays the iconic Celtics clover of a green enamelwork inset onto gold field with rendering of the NBA championship trophy. Trophy decor features a group of smaller inset diamonds (one is replaced noted for accuracy only) on the body with a larger diamond solitaire at top of approx. .55 total carat weight. "Boston Celtics World Champions" lettering encircling the top of the ring. One side panel displays "Auerbach" above Celtics' mascot with "16 Championships" titling. Other side panel had 1986 date with NBA insignia set within a green enamelwork field and "Teamwork" motto beneath. Marked "LGB 14K' on the interior ring band. Size 11.5. The "Teamwork" titling is particularly appropriate for the 1986 Celtics who simply grinded out wins with a workmanlike effort behind Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish. One of the most coveted NBA championship rings of the modern era with scant few having entered the marketplace since their issue in 1986. In addition, the offered ring is arguably one of the most significant of Auerbach's iconic career as his 16th and final ring received.
